When the vision of the new Music Row Wedding Chapel, The Rhinestone Wedding Chapel was dreamed of three years ago September 1st, 2010, competition never came to mind. Only to offer couples an option that other Wedding Venues may not offer, not to take away from other fabulous Nashville Wedding Venues such as Belmont Mansion (It's no secret that Reverend Brandon Rich of Belmont has officiated many Weddings here at The Rhinestone Wedding Chapel on famous Music Row!) as many are much more glamorous, fanciful, romantic and historic. In fact, I had never heard of Belmont Mansion and knew I could not compete with Bridal Path, the original Music Row Wedding Chapel originally on 18th Ave South in the 90's or a Woodland Hills for example. So thus my fabulous adventure of The Rhinestone Wedding Chapel began...
I have to tell you when I started making my phone calls, doing my homework and making plans, The Rhinestone Wedding Chapel was never disrespected, no negative slurs were made towards me or my dream. People in the Wedding business and yes those you would even consider competition, gave me good advice. There was no sabotage and I felt welcomed into an elite group, the Wedding Venue Business. I think because there is an average of 10,000 weddings a year in Nashville and over 100,000 weddings in Vegas the Wedding Industry does not feel threatened. Oh there is the usual marketing setting your self apart from the "competition" just no direct attacks. In return I did not encroach on these other Wedding establishments by trying to lure their staff with higher pay or perks, I tried to treat the owners of these Nashville Wedding Chapels, Nashville churches, Event services ect with respect by asking permission, I wanted and still want to play nice because they had the money to shoot me down yet they let this lil pup get on the porch with the "big dogs".
So I ensured that I would tailor The Rhinestone Wedding Chapel as service that identified with who I believe is the majority like myself. You see, when I married many moons ago, I couldn't find someone to marry us because I lived with my boyfriend and a church wouldn't marry us so I felt stigmatized and chose a wedding chapel that wasn't cute at all but the staff was super friendly and the Wedding Officiant would read from the Bible as I am a believer. EVERYTHING was on a budget, we went to Sears right after the Wedding Ceremony and had our pictures made in my JC Penny Prom Dress and his rented long tail tux, our Wedding Reception was at my sisters apartment club house of which we asked for money so we could take a three day honeymoon to Fort Walton Beach Fla of which the hotel room had a full kitchen so we stopped and bought groceries and cooked and when we got back to Nashville that evening I had to be at work at midnight because I worked midnights. It wasn't easy. I understand now why we experienced the less than Cinderella Fairy Tale Wedding.
